
Nagpur: The Yashodhara Nagar Police arrested a 25-year-old man late on Thursday night for allegedly carrying a sharp weapon while moving suspiciously near a mosque in the Azri–Majri area.
Between 9 pm and 10 pm on December 11, a patrolling unit spotted an individual acting suspiciously near Medina Masjid on an Activa moped (MH-49 BG-6089). The man was intercepted and identified as Mohammad Soheb alias Lala Mohammad Aqil, a resident of Rehmat Nagar in Yashodharanagar.
A search conducted in the presence of panch witnesses led to the recovery of a sharp iron knife worth ₹500 from the vehicle’s storage compartment. Police seized the knife along with the moped, collectively valued at around Rs 30,000.
Officials stated that the accused was allegedly in possession of the weapon with the intention to commit a cognizable offence, thereby violating prohibitory orders. An offence has been registered under Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act, along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is ongoing.
