Nagpur: The winter session of the state legislature finally kick-started in Nagpur on Monday, even as the city grappled with chilly weather and widespread travel disruptions. Several politicians faced delays in reaching Nagpur due to a major crisis involving IndiGo flights, resulting in multiple cancellations and last-minute rescheduling.
Despite the disruption, several top political leaders managed to arrive in their chartered aircraft, while many others are expected to reach the city by train and road in the coming days.
The first day of the winter session concluded within a few hours of proceedings, with limited legislative business conducted on the floor.
With the arrival of senior political leaders and the winter session coinciding with the peak wedding season, hotel tariffs in Nagpur have surged sharply. Local hotel associations confirmed that room prices across several premium properties have risen significantly due to high demand.
The winter session is expected to see intense political discussions as key issues are likely to be taken up over the next few days.
