Nagpur: As part of Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal’s anti-narcotics initiative “Operation Thunder – Let’s Unite to Build a Drug-Free Society,” Nagpur Police have intensified action against those involved in the possession, sale, and consumption of narcotic substances across the city.
In a major action early Friday, officials from Kalamna Police Station arrested a history-sheeter identified as Kadir alias Baba Zakir Khan (23), resident of Gulshan Nagar near Rashida Masjid, Kalamna, Nagpur, after he attempted to flee during patrolling duty.
The incident occurred between 4:00 am and 6:15 am on December 6, 2025, when police personnel were patrolling the Gulshan Nagar area near Shitala Mata Mandir. Upon spotting Kadir, a known offender registered at the police station, officers signalled him to stop. Instead, he tried to escape, prompting the team to chase and apprehend him near the underpass barricade at Gulshan Nagar.
During a search conducted in the presence of witnesses, police recovered 25.10 grams of MD powder from the pocket of his black jacket. The team also seized two mobile phones and a Unicorn motorcycle (MH 31 AK 6149), collectively valued at Rs 3,61,000, from his possession.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was allegedly carrying the narcotics for illegal sale to earn financial gains. Following the seizure, a case was registered under Sections 8(c) and 22(b) of the NDPS Act at Kalamna Police Station, and the accused has been arrested. Further investigation is underway to trace his supply network and associates.
