Nagpur: A shocking late-night attack in Nandanvan Colony has left residents terrified after a young man was brutally murdered and a young woman critically injured inside a rented room on Wednesday midnight. The deceased youth has been identified as Balaji Kalyani, who was reportedly preparing for police recruitment examinations.

According to police sources, Balaji was living in the rented room along with a friend. On Wednesday night, a young woman related to him had come to meet him. At the time of the incident, Balaji’s friend had gone to sleep in an adjacent room, leaving Balaji and the girl alone inside.
Later in the night, locals spotted the girl outside the building, lying in a pool of blood with severe head injuries. Alarmed residents rushed to check the room, where they found Balaji lying motionless with multiple stab wounds in his chest caused by a sharp weapon. Both were immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared Balaji dead on arrival. The girl is undergoing treatment in critical condition.
Love-angle dispute suspected
Initial police investigation suggests that the incident may have stemmed from a personal dispute or relationship issue. Police officials said that the injured girl has been frequently changing her statement, which has made investigators more cautious.
Nandanvan Police Station Inspector Vinayak Koli said: “As soon as we received information, our team reached the spot. Locals had already moved both victims to the hospital. The youth had died before admission. We are recording the girl’s statement and further investigation is underway.”
