Nagpur: As December begins, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a sharp drop in temperatures across Maharashtra. From December 3, cold conditions are expected to intensify in North and Central Maharashtra, with the possibility of a cold wave in some regions. Citizens have been advised to take necessary precautions.
Konkan: Dry Weather Likely
Konkan districts—Ratnagiri, Raigad, Sindhudurg, Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar—are expected to experience dry weather over the next few days. Wind intensity along coastal areas may remain low, while daytime temperatures are likely to stay near normal levels, IMD said.
Central Maharashtra: Yellow Alert for Cold
A yellow alert has been issued for Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Pune, and the ghats. A sudden dip in temperatures is expected, with mornings and nights turning significantly colder. Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and Solapur districts are also likely to witness increased chill, prompting authorities to advise caution.
Marathwada: Significant Drop in Temperature
Marathwada districts—Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv—will likely experience dry conditions with a notable decline in temperatures. Night and early morning hours are expected to be especially chilly, according to the IMD.
Vidarbha: Cold Wave Possible in Nagpur
Parts of Vidarbha may see partly cloudy skies. Nagpur, Amravati, Akola, Buldhana, Wardha, Yavatmal, Gadchiroli, and Chandrapur are likely to experience a cold wave, with temperatures expected to fall sharply. Nagpur may witness intense cold particularly during nighttime and early mornings.
According to the IMD, the cold spell is expected to continue across the state for the next few days. Experts have advised residents to use warm clothing and take necessary precautions to stay safe during the cold wave.
