Nagpur swimmer Gulhane wins silver in Khelo India University Games

Nagpur: Ace swimmer Yash Gulhane from Nagpur achieved a historic milestone at the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2025 held at Sawai Mansingh Stadium Swimming Pool in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

After winning the bronze medal in 50m breaststroke, Gulhane went on to clinch silver in the 100m breaststroke (1:06.69s) on Friday, marking a remarkable double podium finish. With this achievement, Gulhane, a student of B Tech in Computer Science at GH Raisoni College of Engineering, became the first-ever male athlete in the history of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) to win two medals at the Khelo India University Games in swimming, informs a press release.

This edition also marks his fourth appearance at the Khelo India platform, spanning from the Youth Games to the University Games. Gulhane trains in Nagpur under senior coaches Nitin Malwade and Roshan Chaudhari. He expressed his gratitude for the support provided by RTMNU acting Vice-Chancellor Dr Madhavi Khode-Chaware, Director of Sports Dr Sambhaji Bhosale, team manager Dr Jai Kshirsagar, coach Dr Pravin Lamkhade, GH RaisoniCollege of Engineering Director Dr Sachin Untwale. Yash gives credit of his success to his parents Dr Pradnya and Anil Gulhane and his brother Devesh. Sanjana Joshi of LAD College secured 4th position in 1500 metres freestyle category.
