Youth murdered in brutal attack by unidentified group near Nagpur

Nagpur: A picnic outing turned violent in the Khaparkheda police station area near Nagpur on November 23, when a group of unidentified youths attacked two friends with stones and knives, leaving one dead and the other critically injured.

According to the police, the complainant Sushilkumar Motiram Gedam (33), a resident of B-Block, Pahune Layout, Pili Nadi, Nagpur, along with his friends Ashish Roshan Gondane (33) of Pili Nadi and Sachin Munimahesh Mishra (31) of Yashodharanagar, had gone for a picnic to Bina Sangam around 2 pm.

Around 5.10 pm, Sachin left for some work, while Sushilkumar and Ashish went into the river for a swim. At about 5.30 pm, as they were returning from the water, four to five unknown youths approached them and asked Sushilkumar for a lighter. When he handed it over, the group suddenly began abusing him and his friend.

When the victims objected to the verbal abuse, the youths turned violent. Acting in coordination, the attackers struck Sushilkumar on the head with stones, causing him to lose consciousness. They also attacked Ashish with stones and then stabbed him in the chest with the clear intention to kill. The complainant was also stabbed in the back before the attackers fled from the scene.

Regaining some consciousness, Sushilkumar immediately contacted Sachin and the police for help. Both injured were rushed to the Sub District Hospital, Kamptee, where doctors declared Ashish Gondane dead on arrival. Sushilkumar, who sustained multiple injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at Max Hospital, Nagpur.

Based on Sushilkumar’s statement, Khaparkheda Police have registered a case under Sections 103(1), 109, 352, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against unidentified accused. API Meshram is leading the investigation, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the attackers.
