Seven Booked After Kalamna Wedding Turns Violent

Nagpur: A wedding celebration in Kalamna turned violent late Wednesday night after a group of seven men allegedly attacked guests outside Govind Lawn in Bharatwada, leading to a case of attempted murder.

The victim, identified as Vishwas Dashrath Gawande, a resident of Old Vasti, Bharat Nagar, sustained injuries after being stabbed near the hip with a knife during the altercation. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and is undergoing treatment.

The incident occurred between 11:40 pm and 11:55 pm on November 20, when the complainant, Akash Channeshwar Kale, was attending the wedding ceremony. According to police, the accused—identified as Shubham Turkar, Soham alias Rakhya, Vishal Chabar, Akshay Yewale, and three others aged between 25 and 35—arrived at the venue, formed an unlawful assembly, and began creating a disturbance.

The group allegedly hurled stones, caused damage inside the venue, and snatched the mobile phone of a photographer. When the complainant intervened and pushed them out of the premises, a heated confrontation ensued. During the scuffle, Soham reportedly drew a knife and stabbed Vishwas, attempting to kill him.

Following the attack, a formal complaint was lodged at Kalamna Police Station around 2:30 am on November 21, and an FIR was recorded at 7:11 am.

Police have registered offences under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to attempted murder, unlawful assembly, assault, and criminal intimidation. As of now, no arrests have been made, and all accused individuals are absconding.

PSI Nivrutti Phad is investigating the case under the supervision of senior Kalamna Police officials.
