Nagpur: Property agency director booked for cheating homebuyers, misusing MHADA funds

Nagpur: Sitabuldi Police have registered a case against the director of a property agency, ‘Deals My Property’, for allegedly cheating dozens of aspiring homebuyers and misusing funds allotted for the sale of unsold MHADA houses. The accused has been identified as Bhupendra Chandrikapure.

According to police, Chandrikapure was appointed in 2022 as an authorised agent for the sale of vacant MHADA units. However, between October 19, 2022, and July 5, 2025, he allegedly collected money directly from prospective homebuyers despite having no authority to do so.

Police said the accused lured customers by promising to secure MHADA flats, home loans, and even electricity connections. In this manner, he allegedly extracted large sums from 44 citizens.

Investigations revealed that Chandrikapure diverted Rs 1,39,87,370 for personal use, causing substantial financial losses to both MHADA and the beneficiaries.

Following a complaint filed by senior MHADA officials, Sitabuldi Police have registered offences under Sections 318(4) and 316(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
