Pune/Nagpur: Passengers on Train No. 01202 Hadapsar-Nagpur Special were left outraged on Tuesday after discovering that the main door of the 3-Tier A/C coach (B1) was completely broken and kept aside, while a bedsheet was used as a makeshift cover in its place.
The incident has triggered serious outrage and concern over passenger safety and the deplorable maintenance standards of Indian Railways. Commuters questioned how such negligence could occur in a premium A/C coach, where passengers pay high fares expecting comfort and security.
Photos taken by passengers show the damaged door and the crude fabric cover, which quickly went viral on social media. Users tagged the Railway Ministry, Central Railway, and IRCTC, demanding accountability and immediate corrective action.
“This is unacceptable. We pay extra for A/C comfort, but what we get is a safety hazard,” fumed one passenger online.
Railway authorities have been urged to conduct urgent inspections of all long-distance trains, particularly A/C coaches, and fix the rising gap between ticket prices and service quality. The episode once again exposes the serious lapses in maintenance and passenger safety across several routes.
