Nagpur: The controversy over blackening of Congress MLA Abhijeet Wanjari’s office by BJP workers continues to escalate in Nagpur. On Monday, Congress workers staged a protest with slogans outside the residence of former Nagpur MLA Krishna Khopde, prompting BJP workers to gather at the same location. During the demonstration, supporters from both parties came face-to-face, leading to a tense standoff.
The incident occurred on Sunday when a group of BJP workers allegedly blackened Wanjari’s office. Youth BJP activists reportedly raised slogans against the Congress MLA during the act. Wanjari’s supporters, angered by the attack, filed a complaint at Lakadganj police station.
In response, Congress workers gathered on Monday in front of BJP MLA Krishna Khopde’s residence to protest the incident, chanting slogans against the BJP. Upon receiving the information, BJP workers also assembled outside Khopde’s residence, resulting in both groups confronting each other with loud sloganeering. The standoff continued for an extended period.
Police intervened as tensions rose and managed to bring the situation under control. Law enforcement deployed barricades and personnel outside Khopde’s residence. During the confrontation, workers from both parties climbed the barricades and continued shouting slogans until police finally persuaded them to disperse, bringing the tense episode to an end.
