Kale Memorial District Badminton: Ninave toils hard for QF berth

Nagpur: Tinku Vasant Ninave had to toil hard to make it to the quarterfinals of Yonex-Sunrise Amol Kale Memorial Yash Open Nagpur District Badminton Tournament that got under way at Subhedar Badminton Hall, RTMNU Sports Complex, Ravi Nagar on Thursday.

In the women’s singles Round of 16, Ninave was stretched by Sanvi Gunwant Manapure in all the three extended games. Ninave took the first close game 16-14. In a see-saw second game, Manapure managed to reverse the scores and in the third and deciding game, Ninave finally won 21-19. In GS U-13 Round of 16, top seed Dhriti Abhishek Mehta hardly broke a sweat in defeating Riddhi Amit Manwatkar 15-3, 15-2. In 20 events, 306 players will be fighting for supremacy in their respective age groups.

At the outset, the tournament was inaugurated by Ashish Deshmukh (MLA, Saoner Constituency), Minal Amol Kale (CEO, JK Solutions Pvt Ltd.), Kundati Vijaykar (President, NDBA), Mangesh Kashikar (Secretary, NDBA), Yashwant Kerhalkar (MD, Yash AudioVisuals) and Swapna Kerhalkar. Gurdeep Singh Arora (EC Member, NDBA), Madhavi Kashikar Hedaoo (Secretary, Coaching, NDBA), Gaurav Narnaware (Referee) were prominently present.
