Rahul Gandhi Warns: “My Life in Danger Over Savarkar Remarks – Don’t Let History Repeat”

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has filed an application in a Pune court claiming that his life is under serious threat. This application is related to a defamation case concerning his remarks about Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Referring to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi stated that history should not be allowed to repeat itself.

In his application, Rahul Gandhi claimed that the recent political issues he has raised and his past comments on Savarkar have significantly increased threats to his security. He noted that the complainant in this case is a direct descendant of Nathuram Godse. He also stated that the complainant’s family has a documented history of violence and unconstitutional activities.

Rahul Gandhi said, “There is a clear, logical, and concrete apprehension that I could be harmed, falsely implicated in cases, or targeted in other ways. The family history of the complainant is linked to violence. History must not be allowed to repeat itself,” referring to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.

Claims of Threats from BJP Leaders

Rahul Gandhi also claimed that allegations of ‘vote stealing’ have further provoked his political opponents. He alleged that he has received two public threats from BJP leaders. One, from Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, who called him “India’s No. 1 terrorist,” and another from BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah, who also issued threats.

He urged the court to take these threats seriously, stating that the danger to his life is real and grave and that necessary security measures should be considered.

“Completely Irrelevant Step,” Says Satyaki Savarkar

On the other hand, Savarkar’s grandson, Satyaki Savarkar, responded by saying that this application was filed long ago but is being used by Rahul Gandhi to deliberately delay the proceedings. He said Rahul’s move is completely irrelevant.

“The court has already clarified that Rahul Gandhi’s personal appearance is not necessary for the hearing of this case, yet he is intentionally delaying the proceedings,” Satyaki said. “This application is not related to the case in any way and holds no justification,” he added.
