Gaurav, Mitali Clinch Top Spots at NMC’s Tiranga Marathon

Nagpur: Gaurav Khodatkar and Mitali Bhoyar emerged victorious in the ‘Tiranga Marathon – Ek Daud Deshbhaktisaathi’ organised by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Tuesday as part of the Central and State Government’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga 2025’ campaign.

The marathon saw massive participation from Nagpurians, who displayed an overwhelming sense of patriotism just three days ahead of Independence Day. The event’s atmosphere was charged with chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” as runners took to the streets waving the tricolour.

In the five-kilometre men’s race, Gaurav clocked an impressive 14:08.89, followed closely by Rajan Yadav (14:09.64) and Saurabh Tiwari (14:13.26).

In the women’s category, Mitali secured the top position with 16:35.53, while Prajakta Godbole (17:21.47) and Anjali Madavi (17:54.71) claimed second and third place respectively.

Winners were felicitated by Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr Abhijit Chaudhari and other dignitaries. The top three winners in both categories received cash prizes of ₹11,000, ₹7,000, and ₹5,000. Additionally, the first 10 finishers were awarded Puma shoes, while those finishing between 11th and 30th positions received tracksuit coupons.

The marathon was flagged off by Dr Chaudhari, in the presence of senior civic and police officials including Additional Municipal Commissioners Vasumana Pant and Vaishnavi, ACP Dr Shivaji Rathod, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Charthankar, and other dignitaries.
