Nagpur: Hundreds of passengers, including some patients, scheduled to travel to Mumbai via Train No. 02140 Nagpur-CSMT SF Special, experienced a horrid time and distress at Nagpur Railway Station on Saturday afternoon. The incident was exacerbated by scorching temperatures, adding to the discomfort of stranded travellers.
Passengers arrived at the station well in advance of the scheduled departure time, only to find no indication of Train No. 02140 on the display boards or platforms. Neither Central Railway officials nor train locating mobile apps had any information regarding the train’s status.

A group of passengers then met the Deputy Station Manager at around 1.15pm who too was clueless as the “train was missing from the system”. At 1.28pm all the passengers got a message from Indian Railways informing them that the train had been delayed by 11 hours. This communication came after several hours of confusion and uncertainty, leaving passengers stranded and frustrated.
The primary issue appears to be the lack of coordination and communication regarding the status of Train No. 02140. Despite the introduction of summer special trains by Indian Railways, the absence of a reliable timetable for these services has resulted in severe inconvenience for travellers.
The incident at Nagpur Railway Station underscores the importance of effective communication and proactive management in ensuring a seamless travel experience for passengers. Addressing the root causes and implementing preventive measures will be crucial in preventing similar disruptions in the future.
