Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, the Ambazari police have arrested the mastermind behind the Rs 8 lakh robbery of a Nair sons employee. The cops also seized a gun from the accused during the arrest. The accused has been identified as Lalit Ladu Padoti, a 32-year-old resident of Ekatmata Nagar, MIDC.
Lalit had been absconding since the robbery took place on April 22. According to the police, the victim Yogesh Chaudhary was on his way home after collecting cash from a trader in Itwari when two robbers blocked his car at the Ladies Club lawn area in Civil Lines. The robbers threatened him at gunpoint and fled with the bag containing the cash.
The Crime Branch had earlier arrested three individuals – Amit Nagose, Amit Khandekar, and Abhishek Bansod – in connection with the robbery However, Lalit, who was the mastermind behind the crime, had managed to evade arrest until now.
Acting on a tip-off that Lalit was coming to meet his wife in the Ladies Club lawn area in Civil Lines, the Ambazari police laid a trap and successfully arrested him. The police team, led by Senior Police Inspector Gajanan Kalyankar, PI Ritesh Aher, PSI Rajesh Sonwane and staff including Ankush Ghati, Romi Raut, Ghanshyam Kalbande, and Ashish Jadhav made the arrest.
