Nagpur: Mystery shrouded the death of Varsha Jambhulkar, wife of Dr Gajanan Jambhulkar, Medical Officer, Primary Health Centre (PHC), Somnala, Bhiwapur, near Nagpur, whose body was found in her husband’s car on Wednesday.
Varsha (37) and her husband Dr Gajanan Jambhulkar used to stay at a quarter situated in the premises of PHC Somnala. On Tuesday evening, the couple returned from Pusad in Yavatmal district to Somnala in a Maruti car (MH-49/BR-4915) after meeting Dr Gajanan’s sister. After parking the car in front of their house, driver Jitendra Dhanorkar left. Varsha was sleeping on the rear seat of the car. Dr Gajanan asked his wife to come out. He then went inside his house and slept.
Around 7 am on Wednesday, Dr Gajanan woke up and was shocked to find his wife missing. He started searching for her. After some time, he was baffled to find Varsha lying on the rear seat of the car. He rushed Varsha to Rural Hospital where the doctors declared her ‘brought dead.’
After recording Dr Gajanan’s statement, Bhiwapur Police registered a case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and initiated an investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed that the couple often allegedly used to quarrel over petty issues. Police said the exact cause behind Varsha’s death would be revealed after receiving the post-mortem report. ASI Sharad Bhasme is conducting further investigations under the supervision of PSO (Bhiwapur) Mahesh Bhortekar.
