Nagpur: BJP’s win in the Polls in Assam ending 15 years of Congress rule was celebrated by BJP supporters, workers and activists throughout the country including Nagpur city on May 19, 2016 with great enthusiasm and zeal.
At Nagpur too the BJP supporters, workers and activists gathered at BJP Officeto celebrate and express their happiness. They burnt firecrackers, played with colours, distributed sweets and danced to the music of drums marking the win.
The results of the elections held in four states showed that Assam is the only place where BJP got absolute majority. The BJP, with its allies, won a whopping 86 of Assam’s 126 seats.
BJP entering the fray for the first time is certainly worth appreciating.
While expressing the joy of victory, City Chief MLA Sudhakar Kohle that BJP’s victory is a slap on the opposition’s face. He went on to claim that the people are happy with the Government at the Centre.
He added that the people of Assam have made it clear to those political parties who use Sectarian politics that only Nationalist rule will exists in the country.
A similar opinion was also received from MLC Girish Vyas who said that this victory is a Squelcher or counterblast to those political parties and leaders who were targeting BJP and Narendra Modi after the Vidhan Sabha polls in Bihar.
Those present on the occasion for the celebration included MLC Girish Vyas, MLA Sudhar Kohle, MLA Vikas Kumbhare, MLA Sudhakar Rao Deshmukh, Dr Milind Mane, Mayor Praveen Datke and other leaders and activists.
BJP Candidate Sarbananda Sonowal’s early morning prayers offered at a temple in Assam has probably been heard by the Gods. The BJP leader, who is currently Union Sports Minister, will head his party’s first government in the North East, ending 15 years in office for the Congress’ Tarun Gogoi.
