Sanskrit Academy will be set up in State soon, says Fadnavis

Sanskrit Academy  (1)Nagpur: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday announced setting up of a Sanskrit Academy in State for propagating and publicizing the ancient language more vigorously. Fadnavis was speaking after releasing a Sanskrit poetry book “Bharatratnamanjari” penned by Jairam Vyankatesh Pallewar. The programme was held at Vyas Meeting Hall of Dr Hedgewar Smarak Bhavan in Reshimbagh here.

Other prominent personalities who graced the function include Vice Chancellor of Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University Uma Vaidya, Sanskrit Bharti’s All India Organizing Secretary Dinesh Kamat, Publicity Chief S S Deopujari, Regional Secretary Sanjay Labhe, Mahanagar President Madhusudan Penna, Vijay Pallewar and others.
The Chief Minister further said that B Ed Colleges of Sanskrit language will be opened in all parts of the State. He said that the State Government is committed to carry out expansion of Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University with all financial backing.

Sanskrit Academy  (2)“A policy on including Sanskrit language in school education will be decided after discussion with Education Minister. Sanskrit is ‘Dnyan’ (knowledge) language. This language contains knowledge of several other subjects. Since we could not adopt this ancient language in an apt manner, we have been left deprived of knowledge of several other subjects. Since Sanskrit remained limited to scholars only, the language could not be propagated and publicized as desired,” lamented Fadnavis.

Fadnavis said that before the arrival of Britishers, India had 12500 schools for spreading the language. These schools had 1.88 lakh students. Similarly, there were also 742 colleges, informed the Chief Minister.

Sanskrit Academy  (4)The Vice Chancellor Uma Vaidya, S S Deopujari and other dignitaries also addressed the gathering and stressed efforts for propagating and publicizing Sanskrit language.

Sanskrit Academy  (5)At the outset, Fadnavis lighted the traditional lamp to mark beginning of the programme. The function was conducted by Pournima Barahate while vote of thanks was proposed by Chhaya Bhaskarwar.
