Blaming the BJP government in the state as well as at the Centre, the Congress criticised the government for its failure to control the prices of Tur dal, and termed the recent raids on hoarders and stockists of food-grains an ‘eyewash.’ The City Congress demanded more intensive raids on the stockists of cereals.
Later, a delegation led by Vikas Thakre handed over a memorandum of demands to the District Collector, Nagpur urging him to provide the tur-dal from government run ration-outlets under PDS in the interest of poor public.
The district collector told the delegation that he would talk to the local traders and all administrative efforts would be made to bring down the dal-prices. He also said, the tur dal price is in proportion to its demand in the market, but as soon as the new supply comes, the prices would automatically go down.
