Nagpur: In a curious turn of events, a complainant husband has emerged as the key accused in forcing his wife to commit suicide over torturous dowry demands. Now, he and his parents have been booked for abetting the suicide.

It is pertinent to recall that Nagpur Today had flashed a report titled: “Married woman ends life in Koradi area” wherein it was reported that a young married woman Tanvi alias Madhuri Tushar Dongarwar (25), resident of Plot No. 65, Saiprasad Housing Society, Omnagar, had taken the extreme step by hanging to ceiling fan hook with the help of a saree in her bedroom. Tanvi committed suicide between 1 pm and 4.45 pm on Friday (October 23). On the basis of information given by her husband Tushar Pravinkumar Dongarwar (30), Koradi PSI Bonde had at that time registered a case of accidental death and mounted a probe from all angles.

A thorough investigation brought to the fore the wicked deeds of Tushar Pravin Dongarwar along with his mother Jayashree Pravin Dongarwar and father Pravin Dongarwar, all residents of Plot No. 65, Saiprasad Housing Society, Omnagar. The day Tanvi had got married with Tushar, he himself and his parents had started treating her cruelly. The accused trio often put forth demands of more and more dowry money and worldly materials and tortured Tanvi mentally and physically. The 25-year old Tanvi could not bear the agony of dowry demands and trauma of physical and mental abuse. On October 23, Tanvi committed suicide between 1 pm and 4.45 pm by hanging to ceiling fan hook with the help of a saree in her bedroom. Subsequent to probe revelations, a complaint was registered against the accused trio with Koradi Police Station.

PSI Govardipe has booked the accused Tushar Pravin Dongarwar, Jayashree and Pravin Dongarwar under Sections 304(B), 498, 34 of IPC and launched a fresh investigation.
