Nagpur:
The City Indian Youth Congress activists, led by its President Bunty Shelke, on Wednesday staged protests at Ganeshpeth Square against rising prices and raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The activists burned the symbolic effigy of ‘Inflation Ravan’ on the eve of Vijayadashmi.

The Youth Congress activists, to be specific, distributed Tur Dal in place of “Sonyachi Pane” (On Vijayadashmi or Dussehra, there has been a custom of plucking the leaves of the Aapati tree, and then people present these leaves to one another as gold) as the part of protest inview of skyrocketing prices of pulses.

Tur Dal was distributed to people during protest staged at Lokmat Square which falls under Chief Minister’s constituency. Addressing the protesters, Bunty Shelke said that like Ravana of Ramayana, the Central and State Governments are displaying attitude of the demon and exploiting the people.

The rising prices of Tur Dal and other commodities are burdening the people in an unprecedented manner and therefore the effigy of Ravana in the form of inflation is being burned today to wake up the slumbering Prime Minister and Chief Minister, stated Shelke.
