Many not buying the story

Nagpur: In a new development to the girl getting burnt in Futala, the victim has since given her statement to the Executive Magistrate saying that She was committing a suicide.

In a press meet organized by the Nagpur Crime Branch to brief the media persons, Deputy Commissioner of Police (EOW & Cyber Crime) Deepali Masirkar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-1) Shailesh U Balkawde and Additional Commissioner of Police 9Crime) Shrikant Tarwade said that the 22-year-old girl was taken by the police to the hospital where her condition is still critical.

While elaborating about the statement that the victim has given to the Executive Magistrate, DCP Masirkar said that the victim has claimed that she had attempted to commit suicide by setting herself ablaze.

While answering to the query about the material that the victim had used (whether it was petrol, keroscene or any other chemical) the police claimed that they have acquired the burn’t bottle which they are sending to the forensic laboratory for analysis.

To another query about when did the victim leave the house and what did the victim tell her parents before going out, DCP Masirkar claimed that according to information gathered so far, the victim had told her mother at around 7 pm that she is going to buy some paint material (the victim was fond of painting) and brushes and had left the house. She had allegedly left her mobile and vehcile at home in order not to raise any suspicion.

The cops are also clueless about the mode of transportation that the victim used to reach the spot in Futala lake where she allegedly attempted to commit suicide.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-1) Shailesh Balkawde and Deputy Commissioner of Police Deepali Masirkar vehemently claimed that no foul play is suspected so far and this is a case of attempted suicide and not a case of homicide as claimed by some sections of the media.

However, many media personnel were not buying this story put forth by the police since a lot of things and events do not tally. Some of the media personnel opined that the family members have pressurized the girl into giving a statement that exonerates the family members from various tensions of having to answer the investigators and to put to rest the story reported by the media.
