Nagpur: A group of traders has finally refused to get scared by the undue media trial against them and signalled alert for some ‘unnamed’ journalists who has been allegedly using media trial for ‘personal gains’.
Reliable sources from trade fratenity came out with this shocking revelation which showed the darker side of murky media racket to extort money from traders. The sources said the recent incidents of harassment complaints raised by Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC) throws light on the matter of fact. The complaint holds much substance in the light of prevailing situation where youth activists of political party were being tapped to extort money from traders.
Quite a known names, allegedly city reporters of renowned print media were said to be going hands in glove with the student wing of a political outfit in order to have their ways. However, there was no direct mention of role of these reporters but a clear indication was given.

Earlier this weeek, NVCC president Dipen Agrawal even told a newspaper that there were regular complaints from traders against Shiv Sena activists. “The activists had started detaining vehicles transporting betel nuts to check their quality without any authority. The activists even extorted money from traders. Also, some Sena activists are creating problems for cold storage owners”, he said.
All four cold storages were constructed and operated by Wadhwani family. A family member, Kunal Wadhwani, said, “We should not be threatened by antisocial elements. They are cooking up stories by suppressing facts and pushing for media trial for personal benefits.”
Wadhwani’s words clearly signalled the misery these traders are allegedly subjected to, in the aftermath of media-neta nexus. The source said a newspaper recently carried story following which an understanding was made with the said reporters and traders over some financial deal.
NVCC secretary Jaiprakash Parekh had lodged the complaint with police chief SP Yadav on August 1. No individual or political party has been named in the complaint.

In the rage of wave against Maggi, questions were also deliberately slapped on Haldiram’s products. Sources said the Nagpur based company also had to face similar situation and had to pay through nose to escape the media outburst.
