Nagpur: The Second Capital of the State is set to turn into a high-security zone ahead of the Winter Session of the Maharashtra Legislature commencing on December 8, with close to 8,000 police personnel being deployed across the city. The force comprises around 3,000 officers drawn from various districts of Maharashtra, in addition to 5,000 personnel from Nagpur City Police. Their presence will be further bolstered by five companies of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF).

To ensure seamless coordination, the City Police Commissionerate has assigned key responsibilities to senior officials. DCP (Special Branch) Shashikant Satav will oversee the overall security framework, while DCP Headquarters Deepak Agarwal has been tasked with arranging accommodation, food, and other logistics for outstation officers. Traffic operations, expected to be a major challenge due to the influx of visitors and VVIP movements, will be led by DCP (Traffic) Lohit Matani. The entire operation will operate under the command of Joint Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddy.
