Nagpur:
A 70-year old man, probably a farmer, committed suicide as the cooperative bank in which he had invested money was bundled out for an unspecified reason. Unable to bear the loss, the elderly man ended his life by hanging to a tree near an agriculture field in New Kamptee area here on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased, Damaji Jagan Rangari (70), a resident of Sonegaon, had invested Rs 50,000-60,000 in a cooperative bank in the hope of earning a “handsome” return. However, unfortunately, the bank went non-functional and was bundled out owing to unspecified reasons. The closing down of the coop bank put Damaji at the loss of money he had invested with it. Dejected and unable to bear the loss, the elderly man decided to take the extreme step and ended his life by hanging to a neem tree at Sonegaon Shet Shivar, 12 km from New Kamptee.

New Kamptee police registered a case of accidental death and were probing the matter further.
