Nagpur: In an incident that not only brought shame to the society of elders but also pose serious question over security of little girls, a 70-year-old-man raped a 7-year-old-girl in Hudkeshwar area on Sunday evening. The accused, identified as Nilkanth Devaji Chouhan, was caught red-handed by the victim girl’s mother, who thrashed him black and blue and was also given a sound beating by the neighbours. Police have arrested accused.
Police said that the accused Chouhan stays in the neighbourhood of the victim girl. The girl used to refer to him as his grand father and often used to play in the compound of his house.
At about 5 pm, she was playing, as usual. As there was nobody around and sensing opportunity, Chouhan carried the girl inside his house and forced himself upon her. Unable to bear the act of the monster, the girl yelled in pain hearing which her mother rushed inside the house of Chouhan. Looking at her child’s condition, she immediately realised what must have happened. Enraged and frustrated, she started beating the accused.
Within no time, neighbours too assembled at the spot and they too thrashed the accused severely.
Based on a complaint of the victim girl’s mother, Hudkeshwar police have registered an offence of rape under section 376 of the IPC and also slapped sections 4, 6 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 against Chouhan. Further investigations are underway.
