64 CCTV cameras to keep watch during Dhammachakra Pravartan Din celebration

Nagpur: As the city decks up for the Dhammachakra Pravartan Din to be celebrated on Saturday, September 30, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has placed the necessary arrangements at place at Deekshabhoomi and nearby areas. Cleanliness is being given top priority at Deekshabhoomi and places where lakhs of devotees from different parts of the country are expected to throng for the annual celebration.

This year, 64 CCTV cameras would be keeping a close watch on every activity during the Dhammachakra Pravartan Din celebration. Ambulances and fire tenders would be deployed at vantage points for 24 hours to deal with any untoward incident.

Municipal Commissioner Ashwin Mudgal took rounds of Deekshabhoomi and reviewed the arrangements being made by the civic body for the convenience of devotees. Mudgal has directed the concerned departments not to leave any stone unturned while extending facilities to Boudha brethren.

NMC has constructed hundreds of toilets on a temporary basis for devotees. Even mobile bathrooms will be provided at different places in nearby areas. The toilets are being constructed near Deekshabhoomi, Mata Kacheri premises on South Ambazari Road and at other places where the devotees would be staying during the celebration. The entire premises and roads heading towards Deekshabhoomi have been illuminated with streetlights, halogen lights etc.

The Water Works Department of NMC makes arrangements of drinking water. Hundreds of drinking water taps have been installed at different places at Deekshabhoomi and nearby area. Tankers will pressed into service to provide drinking water round the clock. The Health Department of the civic body has engaged hundreds of sanitation workers to ensure cleanliness in and nearby areas of Deekshabhoomi. The workers will work in shifts. They will collect garbage and other waste material in garbage bins. Dozens of Kanak vehicles will pressed into service for disposal of garbage round the clock.

The Public Works Department is erecting pandals for devotees. A contro room of NMC will be set up near Annabhau Sathe statue near Deekshabhoomi for ensuring the Dhammachakra Pravartan Din celebration passes off smoothly.
