6357 candidates to appear in NET today

The University Grants Commission’s (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) will be held today (December 29). A total of 6357 candidates of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) will appear for NET at 9 centres. The UGC has organized the NET in 79 subjects.

THE NET EXAM:

Three papers are optional in NET. The first paper consists of 60 questions of Teaching and Aptitude Test out of which answers to 50 questions have to be written. The second paper comprises 50 questions on selected subjects. Both these papers carry 100 marks each. The third paper is 75 questions. The exam does not have negative marks. The passing marks for the first and second paper are 40 per cent each. The third paper is checked after candidates pass the first and second paper and the passing marks for the third paper require 50 per cent. The JRF’s merit list is prepared separately.

This time the UGC has included Santhali language while last year Assam’s Bodo language was included in the list. Now the UGC conducts NET in a total 33 national and foreign languages. This time the candidates who post-graduated in Geology, Mathematics and Statistics can give NET in Population Study while those who post-graduated in Humanity and Social Science could appear in NET in Women Study.

THE CENTRES:

The 9 centres UGC has selected include LAD College, Saraswati Vidyalaya, Sitabuldi-based Saraswati Vidyalaya, RS Mundle Arts and Commerce College, Dinanath Junior College, Sevadal Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Kamla Nehru College, Shri Binzani City College, and Mathuradas Mohta College. The NET exam is two parts. First from 9 am to 12 noon and from 2 pm to 4 pm.
