The rally was flagged off by Indian badminton player Arundhati Pantawane and SWEEP Superintendent Vijaykumar. More than 5000 university students took part in the awareness rally and created awareness about voting.
‘Voting is a very wonderful and fundamental right given to every citizen and we must exercise the right to franchise. This right is given by our Democracy’ claimed Arundhati Pantawane while addressing the youth. She said that the youth must also motivate the family members and neighbors to cast their votes.
The students carried placards with various messages conveying the importance of exercising one’s franchise. The participants raised the slogan ‘Vote for our own India’.
The students urged the passersby to vote in the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections. They asked people to contribute towards nation building by casting their valuable votes. They also informed about how people can become voters and get their names included in the voters list.
