500 villages to become digital from August 15

It is a good news for the rural brethren since nearly 500 villages are going to become digital from August 15, 2016.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has initiated this project of digitalization of villages for empowering the villages and to keep in sync with the Digital India concept. The home district of the Chief Minister has been chosen to be digitalized under a pilot project.

Under this scheme, 500 villages will be digitalized by August 15, 2016 and by Gandhi Jayanti (October 2, 2016) all the villages will become digitalized. The Chief Secretary of Information Technology of the State Government V K Gautam had a video conferencing with District Collector Sachin Kurve to ascertain the progress of the work of digitalization of the villages on August 10, 2016. It was informed that the work will be completed in the allocated time frame.

Under this scheme of digitalization of villages, the Schools of the village, Anganwadi Centres, Gram Sabha Office etc will be connected with the District Headquarters through internet and in-turn through direct connectivity to Ministry (Mantralaya).
Under this scheme, many public places in villages will have free Wifi facilities. Apart from this all the schemes meant for villages and rural populace will be made available through internet.
