5-year-old boy among two killed in two more hit-and-run mishaps in Nagpur

Nagpur: Deaths in road mishaps continue in Nagpur with two more innocent persons, including a five-year-old boy, losing their lives in hit-and-run incidents on Tuesday also.

In the first incident that occurred on Hingna Road in MIDC area, Pawan Harideen Yadav (35), a resident of Digdoh, took his wife Rani (24) and son Krishna (5) to the shop in front of the SRPF Gate No 2 to refill a small LPG cylinder around 9.30 am on Monday. His wife Rani then took her son Krishna with her as she wanted to withdraw some cash from the ATM kiosk of Axis Bank situated on the other side of the road.

When the mother-son duo was crossing the road, a recklessly-driven car hit Krishna, injuring him seriously. The car driver stopped immediately. He took injured Krishna, his father and mother in his car and rushed the victims to Shalinitai Meghe Hospital, Wanadongri, from where he escaped. As Yadav was unable to bear the hospital expenses for treatment of Krishna, he shifted his son to Government Medical College & Hospital where the boy succumbed to his injuries around 10.30 am on Tuesday. After recording the statement of the victim’s father, MIDC Police registered a case under Sections 279, 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), read with Sections 134, 177, 184 of the Motor Vehicle (MV) Act and launched a search for the errant car driver.

In another incident, a speeding unidentified vehicle knocked a pedestrian to death on Bhandara Road in front of Kapsi (Bujurg) gate in the Pardi Police Station area. The identity of the deceased, who was in his thirties, could not be established so far. Around 8 am, the man was walking down the road. Suddenly, he was hit by a rashly-driven vehicle. After he collapsed and suffered serious injuries, the driver of the vehicle sped away. Before the victim could get any medical aid, he succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Pardi Police sent the body to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem. Cops registered a case under Sections 279, 338, 304(a) of the IPC, read with Sections 177, 184 of the MV Act.
