MUMBAI: The Maharashtra State Election Commission has announced the schedule for Nagar Panchayat and Municipal Council elections, with voting set for December 2, counting on December 3, and final results to be declared on December 10.
According to State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare, the elections will be held for 42 Nagar Panchayats across the state. The remaining 105 Nagar Panchayats will not face elections as their tenure has not yet expired.
Alongside these polls, Municipal Council President elections will also take place. However, there has been no announcement yet regarding the elections for municipal corporations or district councils.
The election process will be conducted using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), with around 1.6 crore voters expected to cast their votes across 13,155 polling stations.
The Commission has also fixed the spending limit for candidates — ₹15 lakh for president posts and ₹12 lakh for member posts. A new mobile application will soon be launched to provide voters with complete information about candidates, polling details, and results.

- November 10: Start of nomination filing
 - November 17: Last date to file nominations
 - November 18: Scrutiny of nomination papers
 - November 21: Last date to withdraw nominations (where no appeals are filed)
 - November 25: Last date to withdraw nominations (in appeal cases)
 - November 26: Allotment of election symbols and publication of final candidate list
 - December 2: Voting day
 - December 3: Counting of votes
 - December 10: Declaration of results
 
These local body elections are being closely watched as a precursor to the upcoming municipal corporation and district council polls, which are yet to be announced.
