4 teenage girls go missing within 24 hours from different areas

Nagpur: In a development of concern, as many as four minor girls went missing from different areas of the city within a span of 24 hours. The teenage girls have reportedly been kidnapped by unidentified persons. Cops have mounted a major search operation to trace the girls.

In the first incident, a 12-year old girl left her house in Imamwada area in the wee hours of Wednesday (January 18). The girl went out between 4 am and 6 am without informing other family members. The panicky relatives searched her at all possible places but in vain.

Imamwada PSI Pawar, based on a complaint and as per directives of Supreme Court that if any minor girl or boy goes missing then the case should be treated as that of kidnapping, has registered an offence under Section 363 of the IPC.

Another 13-year old girl, resident of Sakkardara area, went missing the same way. She left home between 5.30 pm and 7 pm on Wednesday but did not return. A search of the girl by her parents proved fruitless.

Sakkardara WPSI Mesre followed the Supreme Court directive and registered a case under Section 363 of the IPC.
The third incident was reported in MIDC area. A 16-year old girl left her home between 12 noon of Tuesday and 12 noon of Wednesday without telling her parents. Since then she is missing. As the parents of the girl could not find her, they lodged a complaint with MIDC police.

MIDC Woman PSI Gire has registered a case under Section 363.

A 17-year old girl of Hudkeshwar area is also missing. The girl did not return home when she left it between 11 am and 5 pm on January 15.

PSI Lakde, acting on a complaint of her relative and adhering to the Apex Court directive, has registered a case under Section 363.

With the missing of four girls within a short span, cops of Imamwada, Sakkardara, MIDC and Hudkeshwar have mounted a massive search operation to trace the four girls.
