After poorly performing in the Assembly elections, the Raj Thackeray-led MNS received a jolt as 4 of its former legislators joined the BJP party on Tuesday in Mumbai.

Four former MLAs- Pravin Darekar, Vasant Gite, Ramesh Patil and Kashinath Mengar inducted in BJP which won over 120 seats and emerged as the single largest party in the state. Along with these former legislators some other former office bearers of zilla parishads and panchayat samitis also joined BJP.

Maharashtra BJP President Raosaheb Danve told reporters, “We have not promised anything to these leaders. They are inspired by the leadership of P.M. Narendra Modi and will work to strengthen the party in the state.”

To a query on corruption charges against Darekar, Danve said, “There are mere allegations and nothing has been proved. Once corruption is proved, that person will no longer remain in BJP.”
