Today, 30th Nov 2018 at around 5:35 AM the 33 KV Kamptee Rd feeder of SND Limited Nagpur was damaged by the piling machine used by Metro for piling works. The operator at 132/33 KV Uppalwadi could sense that something had gone wrong as the feeder tripped immediately after it was damaged. A team set out for patrolling and instantly the spot was identified opposite the automotive square office of SNDL.The damage impacted more than 30 thousand consumers of SNDL who received supply through this feeder and the associated 11 KV feeders.

There are seven 11KV feeders which receive supply through 33KV Kamptee Road feeder. They are 11 KV Ekta colony, 11 KV Lashkaribagh, 11 KV Yashodhara, 11 KV Sujata, 11 KV Teka, 11 KV Binaki, 11 KV Station. Today’s damage affected the supply to following areas – MahendraNagar, Md. Rafi Chowk, BandeNawazNagar, Yadav Nagar, VaishaliNagar, PanchsheelNagar, KhanteNagar, Farooq Nagar, EktaColony, Teka, IndramataNagar, Sanjay Gandhi Nagar.

The team of engineers at SNDL immediately diverted the load to another 11KV source coming from Uppalwadi and restored the supply by 7:10 AM by backfeeding. Being winter season, the load of such a huge base could be managed. As per sources, the same would have been impossible to backfeed during summers. Later during the day, the officials of metro were called to inspect the spot and also replace the cable. They agreed for replacement of entire cable and the work started during the day. The cable replacement work is supposed to be completed late tonight itself.

This move of replacement of cables by agencies damaging underground cables can be considered as a new initiative. SNDL has expressed hope that Metro and all agencies which have damaged the underground cables would come forward and replace the damaged cables in larger interest of the citizens of Nagpur.
