MUMBAI: Three suspects allegedly involved in the firing at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai have been apprehended in Kota, Rajasthan, police said on Monday, October 19. The development comes a day after motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire near Pushpa Park in Juhu, leaving the actor’s driver and another person injured.
Shroff escaped serious injury in the October 18 incident. Mumbai Police have launched an extensive investigation, with 15 teams deployed to trace the suspects and establish the motive behind the attack. The case has also been transferred to the Mumbai Crime Branch.
Suspects Traced to Rajasthan’s Kota
According to reports, the three suspects were apprehended in Kota after fleeing Mumbai. Police are investigating their alleged roles in the shooting and the circumstances surrounding their escape.
The arrests mark a major development in the investigation, which initially involved examining CCTV footage, collecting forensic evidence and tracing the motorcycle allegedly used in the attack. Firing Took Place in Juhu on Sunday Evening
The incident occurred at around 7 pm on October 18 near Pushpa Park in Mumbai’s Juhu area, as Shroff was returning after a football session.
According to reports, three men on a motorcycle allegedly opened fire at the actor’s vehicle before fleeing. Shroff escaped without gunshot injuries, although he reportedly sustained minor injuries from gunpowder and broken glass.
His driver, Firdous, sustained injuries and was taken to Nanavati Hospital for treatment. An autorickshaw driver was also reported to have suffered bullet injuries.
After the driver was injured, Shroff reportedly took the wheel and drove the vehicle to the hospital. Police have recorded the driver’s statement as part of the investigation.
Attempt-to-Murder Case Registered
Juhu police registered a case against three unidentified persons under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act.
Section 109(1) relates to attempt to murder, while Section 3(5) deals with acts committed by several persons in furtherance of a common intention.
The Mumbai Crime Branch is now investigating the case. Police are examining CCTV footage, forensic evidence and other leads to establish the sequence of events and determine the individual roles of those apprehended.
Alleged Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Connection Under Investigation
Following the shooting, a social media post attributed to individuals identified as Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu claimed responsibility for the attack in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The post also allegedly warned people in the film industry against working with Salman Khan.
However, the gang’s alleged involvement has not been conclusively established publicly. Investigators are examining the claim alongside other evidence to determine the motive and whether the attack was linked to an organised criminal network.
Security Tightened for Bollywood Personalities
Following the incident, security was reportedly increased outside Shroff’s residence. Security arrangements were also strengthened around Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai amid the threats mentioned in the alleged social media post.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured Shroff and his family that the police will investigate the incident thoroughly and take action against those responsible. <Cite refs=
