3-Day Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram All India Meet inaugurated by Maharashtra Governor

A three-day All India Conference is being conducted at Hedgewar Smruti Sabhagruha. The 2nd October 2015, Friday saw the inaugural function of the event. The conference was inaugurated by Governor of Maharashtra, C Vidyasagar Rao in the prominent presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, State Power Minister Chandrakant Bawankule, Mayor of Nagpur City Pravin Datke, President of Akhil Bhartiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Jagdeoramji Uraon, Vice-President, Nilima Patte, Jitendranathji Maharaj, Joint General Secretary, Chandrakant Deo and Welcome Committee President, Sameer Chatte.

The function began with the arrival of Chief Guests amidst rhythmic tribal dances from various parts of the country. It was followed by the national anthem and proceeded with the lamp lighting ceremony in the chants of Vedic mantras from Makranda Joshi and his group. The guests were then welcomed along with the welcome speech from Sameer Chatte, the proceedings were conducted by Vishnukant Ji while the vote of thanks was delivered by Chandrakant Deo.

The Chief Guest for the event, Governor of Maharashtra, C Vidyasagar Rao, applauded the work of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram in all parts of the country. He mentioned that the Janjaatis (tribals) are the integral part of the nation. The tribal freedom fighters were specially mentioned along with the bits from the history.

He even mentioned that the basic amenities must reach out to the Janjaati samaj. He even mentioned that the Janjatis are the perfect example of harmony between nature and men. The example of Felix Pedal, great grandson of Sir Darwin was mentioned when it came to the remembrance the tribal freedom fighter Veer Birsa Munda.

Further he stated that 5 % of the Government revenue will be allocated to the Gram Panchayats. Near about of 250 Crore Rupees of funds will be directed for the development of villages. He even mentioned that Prime Minister is committed to the development and betterment of the tribal communities through various welfare schemes. He even put forth the idea of making the villages technologically sufficient with the concepts such as Digital India.

The Governor assured that the proposals for the betterment of the tribal will be put in the tribal cell and the Governor office will then take the cognizance to implement it. He even mentioned that a separate chapter must be included in the school text books to highlight the contribution of tribal freedom fighters. He assured that the work Higher Education and Healthcare in the tribal areas is underway. He praised former PM, Atal Bihari Vajpayee for starting the tribal commission during his regime.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also praised the work of the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram and said that what cannot be done by Government is being done by Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram. He mentioned the work to include the tribal people in the projects that are to be taken up in their area. He also gave a call for skill development in the Vanvasi areas. His major concern is to make the tribal self-reliant. The ministry is carrying out various programs to tackle the problems such as poverty, malnutrition and unemployment and included that the steps must be taken to sustainable development.

He emphasized the conversion of knowledge into wealth via various programs. He focused that the technology will lead to the development of the tribal areas, with the major platforms put forth by PM, Narendra Modi, such as, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Technology and E-Governance. He also emphasized the importance to the preservation of Ayurvedic knowledge.

Jagdeoramji Uraon stated that the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram is working to bridge the gap between the astitva (existence) and asmita (identity) of the Janjaatis. The constitution has all the provisions for the tribes but everything is not reaching out to them and hence the steps must be taken by them to ensure their development with the growing world.

All the other dignitaries present on the occasion praised the work of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram and gave their best wishes to the concept. The event concluded on an enthusiastic note with the National Anthem at the end.
