3 booked for extortion, threat in Jaripatka

Nagpur: Jaripatka police have rounded up three men for allegedly abusing and doling out threat to a 33-year-old Mekosabagh-based businessman and demanding Rs 50,000 as protection money from him, in the wee hours of Monday.

The accused have been identified as Bablu Yadav, Amit Gaure and their one accomplice.

Complainant Sikandar alias Sheikhu Safi Khan resident of Plot. No. 35, Sindhi Colony, Mekosabagh owns private business. Khan was sleeping when the accused trio knocked at his door on the intervening night of Monday.

The accused called Khan out and told him that he has to pay Rs 50,000 monthly as protection money. However when the 33-year-old refused to accept their terms the accused trio first accosted him and also threatened him with dire consequences before leaving.

Following Sikandar’s complaint, Jaripatka police have registered a case under section 294, 385, 506 (B), 34 of IPC and started the probe.
