In a kind of jolt, around 200 activists of Muslim Rashtriya Manch, the minority wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), severed their relation with the Sangh. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the women’s wing of the organisation Muslim Rashtriya Mahila Manch announced the decision to breakaway from RSS functioning. Along with the 200 activists, the Convener of Nagpur Unit of women’s wing Ekra Khan too announced her parting ways with the RSS. Ekra Khan said the decision follows non-fulfillment of promises made by the Nagpur-headquartered organisation. She also charged the Muslim Rashtriya Manch of working against Muslim religion.

Riyaz Khan, who too was among those who severed his relationship with RSS, said that he was connected with the organisation since the past two years and was given the responsibility as Convener of Vidarbha. “When I joined the Manch I was told that Muslim Rashtriya Manch is an organisation that strives for progress and prosperity of Muslim community. However, I have not seen such activity ever taking place. On the other hand, the activists are forced or pressured to work against Muslim religion itself such as worship Lord Ram on Ramnavami, call cow as Gomata, do Surya Namaskar, etc. Moreover, we are directed in clear terms to work for BJP. When the Manch works like an organisation, we are often encouraged to to work in such manners. The Manch is directly controlled by RSS. This is not acceptable to us,” stated Riyaz Khan.

Others who were present at the press conference include Shaukat Kamar Ali, Nisar Khan, Ekra Khan, Shabnam Khan, Arji Naaz, Sushila Sinha, Sharda Badgaye, Sheikh Noor Ali, Nazma Begum and others. According to them, around 200 activists of the Manch have distanced themselves from RSS.
