Nagpur:
Shradhanand Anathalaya is once again in news for the wrong reasons. After an alleged Girl been kidnapped from the Ashram few days back, a 17-year old girl inmate of Shradhanand Anathalaya committed suicide allegedly by jumping into a well in the orphanage premises here in the wee hours of Saturday morning i.e. April 2, 2016.

The deceased has been identified as Neha Ramesh Katare aged 17 years (approximately). Neha is said to have been inmate of Shradhanand Anathalaya, (the oldest orphanage of the city) since the year 2006.

At first the officials and the staff were tight lipped about the entire incident. However, on insisting to meet the administrator, a staff spoke to Nagpur Today in front of some officials of Juvenile Justice Department.

The Lady staff claimed that the deceased had studied up to class VII and had later discontinued her schooling. She added that the incident must have occurred at around 4 am on Saturday. The lady staff also claimed that the deceased does not have any parents.

According to police, around 7.30 am on Saturday, other inmates and the orphanage authorities spotted Neha’s body floating in the well. The Police Control Room was informed immediately who in return alerted the Rana Pratap Nagar Police Station. A team of cops rushed to the orphanage, and after completing paper formalities, sent Naha’s body to GMCH for autopsy. At present the police have registered a case of accidental death and launched an in-depth investigation into the matter.

Cops are questioning other inmates and authorities of Shradhanand Anathalaya for any clues as to why Neha took the extreme step. Sources said that Neha was seen talking to some persons last night and the next day her body was spotted floating in the well.

This is the second incident in as many as two days, as a missing girl from Shradhanand Anathalaya was found to be reunited with her parents in Bhopal.

The minor girl from Shradhanand Anathalaya was reportedly missing on March 30, 2016.

Mystery shrouds over ill-happenings at Orphanage
Raising many eye-brows, a 17-year old girl commits suicide mysteriously. Obviously the officials of the orphanage must be doing something to cause the girls to either flee from the orphanage or worst come commit suicide. The missing girl had parents so she returned back to her parents, but since the deceased Neha did not have anyone to go to, she resorted to end her life. While many well-meaning philanthropic people spend a lot of money in maintaining this orphanage, the authorities and the staff must be doing something that is causing the inmates to resort to extreme steps.
