1,444 pilgrims to depart for Haj from Nagpur from May 27

Nagpur: The administration has finalized preparations for facilitating pilgrims departing from Nagpur’s Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport for Haj. Approximately 1,444 pilgrims are scheduled to depart in four flights from May 27 to May 31.

A review meeting regarding the service facilities for the pilgrims was convened in the airport hall. The meeting was attended by Senior Airport Director Abid Ruhi, Maharashtra Haj Committee Chairman Ashif Khan, Deputy Collector Wasima Sheikh, Executive Officer Imtiaz Kazi, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ashok Shelke, senior officials of Saudi Airlines,and other department heads.

Vigilance instructions were issued to the heads of concerned departments regarding facilities such as drinking water, emergency medical teams, additional toilet facilities, and wheelchairs for the convenience of pilgrims at the airport. A total of 1,444 passengers will embark on Haj pilgrimage in four flights, with 361 passengers in each Airbus operated by Saudi Airlines.

Pilgrims will return to Nagpur Airport in four flights from July 6 to 9. This year, the Maharashtra State Haj Committee is organizing the pilgrims’ facilities and the pilgrimage for the first time. Pilgrims are provided with a list of items prohibited for air travel, including spices, small knives, chillies, and any other restricted items. The Haj Committee has requested pilgrims to adhere to luggage limitations and cooperate with the instructions provided.
