10-day long Ganesh festival begins with religious fervour in M’rashtra

Nagpur: Ganapati Bappa ala re Nagpurat — Watch the glimpses; how the devout Nagpurians carry home the idols of Lord Ganesha through the city streets. Dressed in colourful costumes the devout men and women, singing and lurching at drum beats, exhibit their revelry of the moment which is going to continue for 10 days henceforth during the sojourn of Bappa Morya, and until its immersion. Human life is a unique amalgamation of joys and sorrows, pleasures and pains, but when it comes to Ganeshotsava, all forget their sorrows and pains, and just remain attached to the divine joy derived from bhakti to Ganesha, who is the Lord harbinger of good omen, prosperity, health and wealth, and remover of all obstacles in proportion to one’s faith in divinity.

Ganeshotsava is very special to Maharashtra state: The devotees would observe the ten-day long festival with religious fervour and gaiety, and also holding various cultural activities. Makers of homes, children and elderly persons who brought home the Ganapati idols chanting Ganapati Bappa Morya and performing first day Aarti today.

Enthusiasm and devotion mark the occasion in homes and in public pandals everywhere in Mumbai. The Mumbaikars installed the idols of Ganapati in homes and pandals with traditional rituals this morning.
