Nagpur: One person was killed and three others were seriously injured when a speeding Scorpio car hit them in the early hours of Monday under Jaripatka police jurisdiction in Nagpur.
The accident took place around 3:30 am at Khobragade Chowk, right in front of the Jaripatka Police Station. The deceased has been identified as Aman Niyazuddin Sheikh, a resident of Adarsh Nagar, Bada Tajbagh. The accused driver has been identified as Ramendra Singh Daulat Parihar, a resident of Wadi, who is a transporter by profession.
It is reported that Aman, along with his three friends, Arman Qureshi, Atif Pathan, and Inayat Pathan, had attended a birthday celebration at their relative Imran Qureshi’s house near Noori Masjid in the Jaripatka area. After the event concluded early Monday, the four friends were returning home on their Jupiter scooter. It was then that a Scorpio hit their two-wheeler at Khobragade Chowk.
In the accident, the driver dragged all four youths on the two-wheeler for about 100 metres. Aman died on the spot, while the other three were seriously injured. They were immediately taken to Mayo Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. The Scorpio driver fled the scene following the incident, but the police were able to locate and arrest the accused after a brief search.
