Nagpur: The Nagpur Cyber Police have cracked a major online investment fraud case involving ₹13,27,376, arresting two accused from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The arrests have dealt a significant blow to an interstate cyber fraud network that lured victims with promises of high returns on investments.
The case has been registered at the Cyber Police Station, Nagpur City, under Crime No. 103/2025, invoking relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act.
According to police, on November 18, 2025, the accused posed as officials of a fictitious firm named Growth India Research Investment Company and sent fraudulent emails to the complainant and associates. By assuring unusually high profits, they convinced the victims to transfer money into multiple bank accounts, thereby siphoning off over ₹13.27 lakh.
Following the complaint, the cyber police conducted a detailed technical analysis of the bank accounts used in the fraud. After briefing senior officers, a special investigation team was dispatched to Indore. Based on verified leads, police arrested Brijesh Namdevbhai Suryavanshi (37) and Deepak Subhashchandra Agrawal (48) on February 7, 2026.
Investigations revealed that accused Deepak Agrawal allegedly persuaded several individuals to open bank accounts, took control of their complete banking documents, and used those accounts to route the defrauded money. With the help of associates, the funds were then withdrawn and dispersed. Police believe more cybercrime cases linked to the accused may surface as the investigation progresses.
In a partial relief to the victims, the cyber police have successfully recovered ₹5,96,712 so far and credited the amount back to the complainant’s bank account as per court orders.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Singhal, Joint Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddy, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber) Lohit Matani. The ongoing investigation is being handled by PI Baliram Sutar, PSI Vivekanand Aouti, and the cyber investigation team.
Police have once again urged citizens to remain cautious of unsolicited investment offers promising unrealistic returns, reminding the public that in finance, as in physics, anything claiming “guaranteed high returns” usually violates the laws of reality.
