Nagpur: The Nagpur City Cyber Police have busted a gang allegedly involved in opening bank accounts in the names of different individuals and using them to receive money generated through cyber fraud. Six people have been arrested in connection with the case.
According to the cyber police investigation, the accused allegedly operated bank accounts opened in the names of various individuals and used them to receive proceeds from cyber fraud. Investigators have found transactions involving a staggering ₹90.25 crore in these accounts. Police said 104 complaints related to the case have so far been registered across Maharashtra and other states.
Between August 5 and 7, acting on confidential information, the Cyber Police conducted searches at a location near Dighori Naka in Nagpur as well as at premises linked to the accused.

During the searches, police seized 236 ATM cards, 82 passbooks in different names, 85 cheque books, 180 blank cheques, 45 SIM cards, 13 rubber stamps, 14 Aadhaar cards, five PAN cards, four voter ID cards, three vehicle registration certificates, seven bank scanners and a swipe machine.
Police also recovered diaries, notebooks, documents related to various businesses and establishments, and mobile phones allegedly used in the crime.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ujjwala Tarachand Rajgire (32), Irfan Iqbal Sheikh (32), Mrinali Digambar Kamble (26), Nidhita Amit Ramteke (22), Ayush Chandrakant Ramteke (20), and Aditya Rahul Dupare (20).
The accused had been remanded in police custody until August 10.
Police suspect that an international cybercrime network may be involved in the operation. Investigators are now working to identify other members of the network and determine how and where the fraud proceeds were ultimately transferred or used.
Police have also indicated that the number of complaints linked to the case could increase as the investigation progresses.
The investigation is being conducted by the Cyber Police team under the guidance of Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr Vishwas Nangare Patil.
