Water Crisis : Angry women stall functioning at Lakadganj zone; demand OCW’s termination

DSC_0081Nagpur News : The women of Pardi division 35, under the leadership of civic body member Purushottam Hazare gheraoed Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Lakkadganj zone and closed main gate. They constantly raised slogans against OCW and Nagpur Municipal Corporation. They were carrying placards like ‘ We too are humans so why the authorities don’t listen to us’.

They claimed that the authorities have failed to provide them water for last four months. Neither they are getting water through taps nor any tankers are provided to them. The civic body member and the women demanded immediate presence of Rehman. When he came, initially he tried to speak in a roundabout way that caused further flare up of emotion.

Civic body member and the gathered women said that taking into consideration the serious water shortage at least 250 tankers are required every day and Nagpur Municipal Corporation is not in a position to supply it. The mob claimed that many people are not getting water for 8 consecutive days. On this Rehman convinced people that in coming two days concrete steps will be taken to solve the problem.

Rehman gave oral orders to the officials present there so that people should get water in right quantity.

Present on the occasion were Nagpur secretary of Congress Parmeshwar Raut, civic body member Vidya Lonar, Rupchand Makde, Saroj Wasnik, Nitin Batey, Yogesh Rohankar, Sattyakala Bisen, Yashoda Wasnik, Vanamala Meshram, Sheela Chauhan, Chandramala Meshram, Nirupa Gadpayle, Jyoti Nagpure, Mangala Kore, Vishranti Kanetkar, Rukmini Bawane, Kunda Patle, Leela Chakole, Manjusha Gajbhiye, Vanita Raut Jaya Borkar, Sunanda Laxine and many other women of locality in large numbers.
