State grants Rs 51.26 crore for various development works in Nagpur District

In a major decision, the State Government has approved a fund of Rs 51.26 crore for various development works in Nagpur District. The fund will be utilized in development of basic facilities, roads, specialized schemes by Nagpur Municipal Corporation, 12 Nagar Parishads, five newly formed Nagar Panchayats in the district. The State decision was taken in the meeting held on November 18 and 19.

Rs 10 crore for basic facilities:

A special grant has been provided by the State Government to the Municipal Corporations for development of basic facilities. Accordingly, out of the fund of Rs 113.30 crore, Rs 56.65 crore will be given by the State Government on the 50:50 percent basis. The remaining Rs 56.65 crore will have to be spent by the Municipal Corporations for development of basic facilities. Nagpur has thus received Rs 10 crore.

Rs 25.76 crore under road development grants:

The State Government, in all, has provided Rs 245.63 crore to Municipal Corporations/Nagar Parishads/Nagar Panchayats for development of roads and other related works. The districts of Mumbai, Thane, Nagpur and Bhandara will receive the funds. Of the total funds, Nagpur Nagar Parishad and Nagar Panchayat have been provided with Rs 25.76 crore.

Rs 15.50 crore under specialized development scheme:

Under the specialized development scheme, the Government has decided to make Rs 150.75 crore available to Nagar Parishads and Nagar Panchayats in 10 districts. The share of development fund will be 90 percent by State Government and 10 percent by Nagar Parishads and Nagar Panchayats. Subsequently, Nagpur District has received Rs 15.50 crore. Various development works will be carried out in Kalmeshwar, Kamptee, Katol, Nagarkhed, Ramtek, and Saoner Nagar Parishads.
