It’s time for some celebrations for Salman Khan as his latest release ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ has entered the coveted Rs. 100 cr club in just three days of its release, and there is one more day for the weekend to end.
Producer/Director Sooraj Barjatya of Rajashri Productions teamed up with Salman Khan after 16 years. They last worked in the movie ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ in 1999.
The movie got a good head start this Diwali by earning Rs. 40.35 cr on the first day (Thurday) itself, on the second day (Friday) it earned Rs. 31.05 cr and third day (Saturday) it made Rs. 30.07 cr, which makes a total of Rs. 101.47 cr in mere three days. This does not make the total of the entire weekend collection as we are yet to see how much the movie makes on Sunday.
A Nagpurian plays a key role in this movie
A big supporting role has been played by a Nagpur entity in this movie – a fact no one has reported yet.
It is Haldiram, of course! From the beginning of the movie till the very end, Haldiram products and even food, make “guest appearances” again and again.
In the beginning, when Prem Dilwale – one of the Salmans – is buying treats for princess Sonam when he goes to see her.
Then, when this ordinary mortal has to eat boiled food in his impersonation of the ‘Prince’ a Haldiram thali is smuggled in to him which he can enjoy in secrecy!
And when finally it is time for the ‘teelak’ guess whose laddoos are to be distributed?
The tremendous success of this film is going to be a boost in the arm for this namkeen – sweets & restaurant company. Looking at the massive crowds at all its outlets during Diwali, not that they need it!
