“What worked yesterday, won’t work today. India should become knowledge-based society. Today’s economy cannot be dependent on natural resources , knowledge-based economy is the need of the hour,” said former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam at the   valedictory function of Golden Jubilee celebrations of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College, Nagpur  on Tuesday July 29.

Speaking at the jam-packed Vasantrao Deshpande Hall, Dr. Kalam mesmerized the gathering with his words of wisdom. He talked on the topic ‘What you will be remembered for’ and posed questions to the youths assembled there. Giving examples of how Thomas Edison is remembered for invention of electric bulb and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar for framing the Constitution of India, Dr Kalam said that likewise, the students must also have the determination of ‘I will fly’.

Dr Kalam further added that youth of today should move ahead with the qualities of working with integrity and achieving success through integrity.

Expressing concern over the present education scenario, Kalam emphasized on universities to become power hub of knowledge-based society. He asked for instilling confidence of ‘I can do it’.

Earlier, Principal of  the college, Dr. Malti Reddy gave the welcome address. The dignitaries sitting on dais include Justice Bhushan Gavai, Acting Vice Chancellor of RTMNU Anoop Kumar and Secretary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Education Society Sadanand Fulzele.
